To make your arrival and stay as comfortable as possible, we would like to share a few practical tips about what to bring and how to manage your luggage when staying in an authentic medieval fortress.

Travel light

As the castle is a protected 15th-century historic building of great heritage value, there is no lift and many of the original stone staircases remain intact. For your comfort, we recommend bringing light luggage or suitcases that are easy to carry.

Loading and unloading

To make your arrival easier, we provide a luggage trolley that you may use to comfortably transport your belongings from your vehicle into the castle grounds.

Assistance with your luggage

If you are travelling with heavy luggage or think you may need assistance carrying it to your room, it is very helpful if you let us know in advance. This way, our companions will be ready to assist you as soon as you arrive.

Comfortable footwear

To stroll along the paths of our estate, cross the cobbled courtyard, and climb the fortress staircases, flat and comfortable footwear will be your best companion. Thin heels and medieval architecture do not usually get along very well.

Climate: What Should You Pack?

The Salamanca countryside experiences a climate of strong contrasts, so here is a brief idea of what you can expect throughout the year.

Winter: Winter months are cold. We recommend bringing a warm coat and cosy clothing so you can fully enjoy walks around the grounds, even though our heated lounges await you inside the castle.

Spring and Autumn: During these seasons, temperatures can vary significantly between day and night. Dressing in layers is always the smartest option to comfortably adapt throughout the day.

Summer: Days are warm and perfect for relaxing, but evenings in the dehesa always become cooler. Don’t forget to pack a light jacket or jumper to enjoy evenings beneath the stars.

Don’t Forget Your Swimsuit! : If you visit us between June and September, swimwear is essential so you can enjoy a refreshing dip and relax by our swimming pool.
