Castillo del Buen Amor is not just a 15th-century military fortress declared a Cultural Heritage Site, but a secluded retreat in the heart of the Salamanca dehesa. We are located along the historic Via de la Plata, in a privileged natural setting in the northeast of the province of Salamanca. Surrounded by countryside, vineyards, and vast open skies.

Transportation Options

How to Get Here?

By Car (Our Recommendation)

We strongly recommend arriving with your own car or a rental vehicle. As we are located in a rural and natural setting, having a car will not only make it easier to reach the castle entrance itself, but will also give you complete independence and freedom to explore the nearby cities and the spectacular landscapes of the area at your own pace during your stay.

By Taxi

If you arrive by train at the Salamanca or Zamora stations, a taxi is a very convenient and direct alternative. The journey is quick via motorway and will bring you directly to our doorstep without any hassle.

On Foot (For Our Beloved Pilgrims)

Some travellers arrive here on foot. The castle is located along the historic Silver Route (Vía de la Plata). For us, it is both common and a true honour to welcome pilgrims walking the Camino de Santiago who choose to cross our gates and enjoy a well-deserved rest along the way.

Accessibility at the Castle

As you can imagine, staying in an authentic 15th-century military fortress offers unparalleled charm, but it also comes with certain architectural challenges. We believe in being completely transparent so you can plan your visit as comfortably as possible and without surprises.

As a protected historic building officially declared a Historic-Artistic Monument, the original structure must be preserved. This means there is no lift, and you will encounter certain architectural features typical of the period, such as stone staircases, uneven corridors, or some doorways narrower than modern regulations would normally require.

Even so, we want the experience to be as inclusive as possible. If you are visiting in a wheelchair or have reduced mobility, please keep the following details in mind:

Exterior Access and Central Courtyard

Arrival is comfortable and straightforward. You can cross the moat via the bridge and access our central courtyard directly without encountering architectural barriers.

Our rooms

We offer several room options located on the same level as the central courtyard. In these cases, if you inform us in advance, we can install a portable ramp to facilitate access. We strongly recommend contacting us before your arrival so we can help you choose the room best suited to your needs.

Restaurant service

Our main dining room is located in the castle’s underground former stables, which means access requires going down stairs and is therefore not wheelchair accessible. However, this will not prevent you from enjoying our cuisine: our companions will be delighted to prepare a table for you in the central courtyard, in the upper lounges, or in your room so that you can enjoy breakfast or dinner in complete comfort.
